Description

Avallac’h, whose full name is Crevan Espane aep Caomhan Macha, is an elven Sage. Sages, also called Knowing Ones, are highly intelligent, powerful elves who can predict the future and use magic. She regards Ciri with disgust, calling her a “degenerate half-breed” whose only purpose to Avallac’h is to help him with his task. After Ciri “does what she must”, the elf claims that Avallac’h will finally be free of her.

Now that we have some idea of Avallac’h and his goals, it’s a good time to ask the big question: is he evil or good? The answer depends on the perspective. There’s also the fact that Ciri gets visibly upset when the female elf at Avallac’h’s lab implies that he is only interested in Ciri for his work and can’t wait to be rid of her. Ciri is in fact so mad after meeting her she wants to destroy the lab. Is Avallac’h Good or Evil? Meanwhile, having saved Queen Meve of Rivia, Geralt and his party – the bard Dandelion, Milva the archer, higher vampire Regis, and former Nilfgaardian soldier, Cahir – travel with her army. Geralt seeks a group of druids whom he believes can locate Ciri. During their journey, they learn that a bounty has been placed on their heads by a half-elf and a group of criminals led by a man named Nightingale. Partnering up with the young woman Angoulême, a former member of this group, they decide to ambush the bandits and discover who hired them, who Geralt suspects to be the wizard Vilgefortz. Eventually, they stumble upon the half-elf, named Schirrú. A fight breaks out, in which Cahir is injured, forcing him and Geralt into hiding. During this time, the two reconcile. They reunite with the rest of the party, who have entered Toussaint, where the druids are. They attempt to locate the criminals, but are captured instead by the druids, who kill the criminals before Geralt can question them. The Polish game publisher, CD Projekt, created a role-playing PC game based on this universe, called The Witcher, which was released in October 2007. There is also a mobile version of the game which has been created by Breakpoint Games and is being published by Hands-On Mobile in Western Europe,Latin America and Asia Pacific. Hermit Guru: Vysogota of Corvo, a philosopher who was exiled for his views and had to settle down incognito on a swamp. The novel has been published in Czech (Leonardo, 1998), Russian ( AST, 1999), Spanish (Bibliopolis, 2006), Lithuanian (Eridanas, 2006), German (DTV, 2010), Bulgarian (InfoDar, 2010), French (Bragelonne, 2010), Serbian (Čarobna Knjiga, 2013), Finnish (WSOY, 2015), Italian (Editrice Nord, 2015) and Portuguese (WMF Martins Fontes, 2016). An English translation was released in the United States by Orbit (titled The Tower of Swallows) in May 2016, [1] [2] and in the United Kingdom by Gollancz (titled The Tower of the Swallow) in 2017. [3] The Polish title refers to a singular swallow, so The Tower of the Swallow used by Gollancz is the more accurate translation. Nothing Is Scarier: After mowing down half of her pursuers and constantly circling around the rest on her skates, Ciri suddenly stops, hidden in the mist, leaving only silence. The mooks promptly start to truly panic. Avallac’h gave me his word,’ [Ciri] said hoarsely. ‘Allegedly it’s an insult to doubt the word of an elf.’ Torture Is Ineffective: Since Ciri's powers mean that Vilgefortz can't locate her directly, he kidnaps Yennefer in the hopes of being able to use her emotional bond with Ciri to get a sense of where she is. When Yennefer naturally resists, he has Rience torture her. Unfortunately for them, Yennefer's love for Ciri is stronger than her sense of self-preservation, and all they get out of her is a vision of Geralt, who's of secondary importance to them.

According to Ithlinne’s Prophecy, a White Frost (essentially, an Ice Age) will come to the Continent, ending the world and eradicating the humans.

Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Despite having boasted about torturing Yennefer and his plans to do the same to Ciri, when Ciri has Rience at her mercy, he desperately begs her to spare him. She doesn't. Bogeyman: Bonhart is this to Ciri. Even after killing almost all of Skellen's other men, she's still terrified of facing him in a one-on-one fight. If you’re like us and binged the Netflix show in one weekend and put countless hours into The Witcher video game, then the only next step is to take a look at the epic novels that inspired not one, but two different media adaptations! The kingdom of Redania's spymaster, Sigismund Dijkstra, travels to the neutral nation of Kovir, seeking financing to rebuild Redania's army in anticipation of a Nilfgaardian invasion. He discovers that the magicians of the newly formed Sorceress' Lodge have begun to establish Kovir as a nation sympathetic to magic, under their control. Sorceresses under the leadership of Phillipa Eilhart gather information on the various nations, and set their own plans in motion. Triss Merigold, a member of the Lodge privately questioning its motives, searches for information on Yennefer of Vengerberg, who is believed to be dead.

Shameful Strip: Bonhart forces Ciri to strip off her clothes after he captures her. He doesn't do so for any sexual reason, but to instead make sure that she's not hiding any weapons or magical items. What makes this volume stand out from others is the bold narration and widened explanation of what the hell has been going on outside the main characters. All the installment before Swallows gave me an impression that I am looking at the great Nifflegardian War through the wrong end of the telescope. Tower of Swallow finally confronts or at least untangles the politics of war and character motivations through chapters featuring Twany owl as well as Dijkstra. And then in the abyss, the humble not-witcher will find answers to the questions which torment him…’” Tired of Running: After half of a book worth of escaping from her captors (or the whole saga, including a few pre-Saga short stories till this point), Ciri finally snaps and turns the table on them, using all the advantages she can.
